What We Do

Social

Phi Kappa Theta strives to provide a full college social experience. During the fall, we take two weekend getaways for Labor Day and Fall Break, traveling to nearby areas like the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake Lanier, or rural Georgia. We also schedule date nights, sorority mixers, and our annual semi-formal. To kick off the fall semester, we host a party and rent a 30-foot tall water slide for the front yard. Halloween brings Nightmare on Fowler St, our annual Halloween Party. The fall is also an opportunity to continue building our tight-knit brotherhood through smaller but equally important events like paintball, sports outings, and participation in Homecoming Week events.

Philanthropy

At the Gamma Tau chapter, we strive to give back to the Georgia Tech and broader Atlanta communities. Philanthropy is a great opportunity to make an impact in these local communities, and it’s also a great way to bring the brotherhood closer together. Below is a description of our official philanthropy, for which we aim to raise a certain amount on an annual basis.

Children’s Miracle Network

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, and charitable care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion, most of it $1 at a time through the charity’s Miracle Balloon icon. Its various fundraising partners, including Phi Kappa Theta, and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

For the Kids

GT FTK raises money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. The fundraising efforts directly benefit the Heart Center at Children’s, going towards things like new equipment or research. We work with FTK on a regular basis, hosting a Car Smash on our front lawn where people can pay to destroy an old car that’s donated using tools we provide such as pickaxes, hammers, etc.

Academics

We strive to make the Gamma Tau Chapter one that enhances our brothers’ education. Brothers pursue degrees in a wide variety of majors from biomedical engineering to business and applied physics to computer science. At the end of the day, we’re all here to get a degree from Georgia Tech, and we want each individual to achieve that in the manner that’s easiest and best suited to them.

Many of our brothers excel professionally with our support and alumni network. One of our proudest elements is our involvement with the future of space – we have a brother working in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory along with a few guys at SpaceX. Our guys have been in the command center for many of the SpaceX launches such as the Crew-3 and Dragon launches along with working on rocket retrieval and outfitting.
